Smallvillesta oli työn alla animaatiosarja, mutta sitten DC Comicsilla kävi luuta

Sen aiemman "DC Extended Universe" -aikakauden varrella saatiin runsaasti erilaisia DC-projekteja, joiden laatu vaihteli. Elokuvien ohella oli lukuisia TV-sarjoja. Mutta sitten James Gunn ja Peter Safran ottivat ohjat, jolloin paljon mennyttä lakaistiin luudalla ulos.

Suunnitteilla oli myös Smallvillen sivuaskelsarja animaation muodossa. Moinen tuskin koskaan toteutuu. Asiasta kertoi Smallvillen yksi luojista, Alfred Gough, joka ilmaisi epäilyksensä Talk Ville -podcastissa.
